Greene Refuses to Answer for 49% Pay Vote

October 3, 2026

ST. LOUIS PARK, MN – Twenty-five days ago, Abdihakim Ibrahim demanded that Commissioner Marion Greene apologize for voting to advance a proposed 49% pay increase for county commissioners while HCMC was in crisis.

She has not responded.

“Marion Greene cast the vote. Now she is hiding from it,” a campaign spokesperson said. “She does not get to run out the clock and quietly ask District 3 for another term.”

The Ibrahim campaign is demanding that Greene explain why she supported advancing the proposal, state whether she still believes her vote was justified, and apologize to District 3.

“If Marion Greene cannot own her actions, she should not be in this race,” Ibrahim said Saturday. “We are waiting for her answer.”

The vote is documented in Hennepin County Board Action Request 24-0327 and contemporaneous Star Tribune reporting.
