ST. LOUIS PARK, MN – Abdihakim Ibrahim, candidate for Hennepin County Commissioner District 3, has released a new video blasting Commissioner Marion Greene’s remarks concerning the funding of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office.
During a March 24 County Board meeting, commissioners considered a $15.4 million amendment covering the Sheriff’s Office’s 2025 budget overrun. During the discussion, Greene said: “I’m not willing to fund the sheriff to provide public safety for Hennepin County.”
Her comments were met with an open letter signed by over forty county mayors and police chiefs, arguing that the Sheriff is vital in supporting their daily operations.
In the new video, Ibrahim argues that the Sheriff’s Office must have the resources required to perform its duties.
A campaign spokesperson called Greene’s remarks “elitist and out-of-touch” and “misaligned with the values of this district.” The Ibrahim campaign is dedicating resources to distributing the video’s message to community members, the spokesperson added.
The video is available on Abdihakim’s social media pages and his website.
